When a deceased person arrives at the destination airport, families often assume the transportation process is complete. However, several formalities and charges may still apply before the body is released. Therefore, understanding destination airport charges for dead body transportation helps families avoid confusion and unexpected expenses.

This guide explains cargo release charges, airport handling fees, documentation, hearse van pickup, and the complete arrival process for domestic air transportation in India.

What Are Destination Airport Charges?

Destination airport charges are the fees collected after the coffin arrives at the receiving airport. These charges usually cover cargo handling, documentation verification, terminal services, and body release procedures.

Although the airline completes transportation, the airport cargo terminal manages the final handover.

What Happens After the Flight Lands?

Families follow a structured process before receiving the body.

Step 1: Cargo Arrival Notification

The airline or cargo office informs the authorized family member that the coffin has arrived.

Step 2: Document Verification

Cargo officials verify the identity of the applicant and review the transportation documents.

Step 3: Cargo Release

After verification, the cargo terminal releases the coffin to the authorized representative.
